Sunlight refracting through calcified formations, algae, and submerged ancient wood creates a brilliant mosaic of pale yellow, emerald green, sky blue, and deep sapphire. Long Lake is the largest and highest lake in Jiuzhaigou, sitting at an elevation of 3,101 meters and winding in an elegant S-shape through the mountain valley. Its broad, open waters are fed by alpine snowmelt and never run dry, preserving a sense of pristine wilderness. In winter, the lake freezes over, and together with the distant snow-covered peaks, forms a vast and majestic panorama of ice and snow.
